The Potentials are a DIY queer feminist Buffy the Vampire Slayer punk band fresh from the Hellmouth. When they aren't dusting vamps and getting apocalyptic, they provide feminist critiques of Mr Nice Guy Riley, swoon over queer witches and totally shut down the concept of the ‘friend zone’. All of their songs are about Buffy, all of their songs are about real life.

Formed last year by friends Shahnaz (bass/vocals), Holly (guitar/vocals) and Zak (drums/vocals), The Potentials self-released their first effort Who’s Playing at The Bronze Tonight? soon after and spent the rest of 2015 playing shows up and down the country. In contrast to that debut cassette, their latest EP We Are The Potentials, recorded by Mark Jasper at Sound Savers, gives voice to some of the underdogs and minor characters in Sunnydale, paying homage to witches, feminist vengeance demons and invisible girls everywhere.

Potentials are slayers in training with no super strength or abilities but make it up and give it a go anyway. The band’s title anthem is a call to arms for all other potential slayers, queers, weirdos and misfits to get up and give it a go too.
